The Africa IP Centre was founded on December 7, 2019, with the mission of supporting and enhancing the institutional capacity of the intellectual property (IP) system in Africa. Its goal is to advocate for African governments to develop and implement comprehensive IP policies that ensure IP benefits both Africans and the continent as a whole. The ITRC also hosts the All Africa Intellectual Property Summit, the ITRC Academy, and other affiliated corporate initiatives.

This Privacy Policy applies to the website, www.it-rc.org, www.africaipsummit.it-rc.org as well as any other websites, and other platforms or services (the “Digital Properties”) owned and controlled by the International Trade and Research Centre(ITRC) the owner of Africa IP Centre organizer of the All Africa IP Summit (AAIPS), ITRC Academy and others (hereafter referred to as the “Centre,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) where this Privacy Policy is posted (collectively referred to as the “Services” throughout this Privacy Policy). In addition to helping us assess traffic trends on our Digital Properties so we can manage and enhance them, this enables us to identify your computer’s IP address on subsequent visits. See the section below, “How we use cookies and similar technologies,” for more details on cookies and related technologies, as well as instructions on how to reject cookies.

In addition to giving you access to our Digital Properties, we may scan, gather, and store information such as emails, attachments, email addresses, metadata, and URLs for security and fraud detection purposes, as well as to identify and assess malware and spam.

Data gathered from outside sources: The platforms or systems of our third-party service provider store the personal information you give us when you sign up for newsletters, register for our programs, donate, and for other purposes. For objectives that align with our mission, certain of our programs may collaborate with third parties like Google, LinkedIn and Facebook to target users with ads across the Services and other websites. This information may be combined with additional data that we or third parties gather about you, such as personal data. While some cookies enable a quicker log-in process or help us better understand how you use our Digital Properties and interact with content (e.g., pages), others let us make it easier for you to traverse our Digital Properties. More information about blocking certain cookies can be found below.

Pixel tags, which work similarly to cookies, show little images with a distinct identity. Pixels, as opposed to cookies, are embedded on pages and are saved on your device. In connection with our Digital Properties, we may employ pixel tags, also known as clear GIFs or beacons, to gather data about how our Digital Properties are used, manage content, and comprehend user activity. To learn more about email response rates and determine when our emails are viewed, we or our third-party service providers may employ comparable techniques in our emails.

Cookies we use include:

Strictly Necessary: Certain cookies are necessary for you to use our Digital Properties and utilize their features, like logging in to secure parts of the Digital Properties. We are unable to enable relevant content according to your authorization level without these cookies. In most cases, you are unable to disable these cookies.

Performance: Following best practices, we utilise our own cookies and/or third-party cookies to track how users interact with our Digital Properties to optimise performance and make improvements to our website.

Analytic: We can learn about your interactions with the Digital Properties by using these cookies and other technologies. For example, we can learn how frequently you visit the websites, where you are coming from (e.g., nation, state), and what content you are interacting with. We can support and enhance the functionality of the Digital Properties thanks to analytical cookies. To evaluate traffic and usage trends for Digital Properties, for instance, and to learn more about the demographics of our users, we utilise Google Analytics cookies. Additionally, we might utilise web beacons to measure the efficacy of specific messaging and the effectiveness of our HTML email marketing strategies. We won’t be able to track the Digital Properties’ performance if you deny analytical cookies, and we won’t know when you have visited.

To stop images that might contain technologies that would allow us to determine if you have viewed and engaged with our email, you can configure your email settings to block automatic downloads.
